There are a few things to consider when trying to decide between an in-home session versus going on location somewhere. Here is the list I have come up with to hopefully help you to decide:
1. Time
The time of day for a location session needs to be about an hour before sunset. This can be tricky with young kids that could be tired. I often recommend, if possible, to encourage a later day sleep so that your little one is awake and happy for the session. If the time of the session is an issue, I recommend we do an in-home session as we can work more around your child's routine in regards to the time of the session.
2. Exploratory Children
The most important thing for a session is that everyone is relaxed. This may not be possible with children that like to run around and explore their surroundings. In all of our sessions, I like to capture the connections between everyone so during the session, the kids may be unattended for a little while. If it will help you to relax and if it's possible, I suggest you bring someone along that can watch the kids while we capture you and your partner.
3. Final images
Before you decide on what type of session you would like to have, I suggest you think about your final images and how you would like to display them.
If you have any questions at all, feel free to ask me.
